Job description

As Legal & Privacy Counsel at CarePay / M-TIBA you will support our business with all things legal. You will work directly with our commercial and operational teams in all countries in contracting our customers, suppliers and other business partners, and in getting them the legal and regulatory advice they need (using external expert counsel when necessary). With our General Counsel and Director Risk and Privacy Compliance, you will work on other legal and compliance matters, including data protection and other regulatory compliance (and related policies and processes), IP/IT, corporate governance, HR, contract templates and legal admin.

Required skills

Educational Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

Master's Degree in Law (courses in contracting, IP/IT (tech), data protection and/or (healthcare) insurance are a plus)

At least 4 years relevant working experience, 2-3 at a top tier international  law firm and1-2 as an inhouse lawyer, with experience in (at least 3 out of 4):

  • commercial  contracting  (drafting and negotiating contracts and templates)
  • data  privacy (procuring and  implementing policies and processes)
  • IP/IT  (platform licensing,  vendor sourcing, trademarks, protection of confidential information); and/or
  • (re)insurance  (regulatory  framework and compliance)

It is a plus if you also have experience:

  • with  other regulatory matters (eg AML or financial regulations), compliance  processes and/or corporate
  • at  a (health)(re)insurance company, healthcare provider or tech company (in     particular PaaS)
  • at  an international company
     

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Trusted adviser to the business –able to analyze and identify the core of a problem and address it with practical advice, balancing legal requirements with business considerations, so that the business can achieve its goals
  • Helicopter view with eye for detail – good understanding of how to place legal considerations and advice in the business environment and bigger picture, while keeping an eye for relevant details and risks
  • Master of documents – excellent skills in review and drafting of contracts, policies, resolutions and other legal documents, and management and implementation of contractual requirements and policies
  • Responsible self-starter – taking initiative and driving processes pro-actively and  independently, with accountability for the work performed and results  achieved
  • Open  communicator – open, simple and clear communication, focusing on the key message while building personal relationships with colleagues and other     business partners
  • Flexible  professional – high level of professionalism, integrity and commitment, mindful of (data) confidentiality issues and able to adapt to changing situations
